Runway Manila: Walking from NAIA Terminal 3 to the Newport Hotels

Runway Manila is the reason this site exists. It is a 220-metre enclosed, air-conditioned pedestrian bridge that leaves the Terminal 3 arrivals level, crosses Andrews Avenue and lands in Newport World Resorts, and it turns seven of the eight hotels on this site into hotels you can walk to from the gate with no shuttle, no taxi and no fare. It opened in 2017, it is free, and it is open 24 hours a day. This guide explains where to find it, what the walk is like, how long each hotel takes and when you should not count on it.

Where the bridge starts

After immigration, baggage claim and customs at Terminal 3, you come out into the arrivals hall on the ground level. Follow the overhead signs for Runway Manila / Newport World Resorts; they lead to the far end of the arrivals hall, past the Grab and taxi bays, where escalators and a lift take you up to the bridge level. Departing passengers coming the other way arrive at the arrivals level and take the escalators up to the departures hall. The bridge has moving walkways most of its length, lifts and escalators at both ends, and security staff; luggage trolleys are available at the bridge and golf carts can be requested without charge for passengers who need help. In heavy rain or afternoon heat it is the most comfortable 220 metres in Manila.

Where it lands

The Newport end opens into Newport Mall, the shopping and dining block at the centre of Newport World Resorts, and this is where the hotels fan out from. Newport World Resorts runs a 24-hour shuttle service at the Newport end of the bridge for arriving and departing Terminal 3 passengers, so if you are travelling with several large cases or small children you can ride the last stretch to the hotel door instead of walking it; ask the staff at the bridge exit.

Walking times to each hotel

  • Savoy Hotel Manila, 350 m from Terminal 3 on Andrews Avenue beside the mall: about 5 minutes from the arrivals hall.
  • Belmont Hotel Manila, on Newport Boulevard beside the mall: about 5 minutes.
  • Sheraton Manila Hotel, across Andrews Avenue from the terminal with its own covered bridgeway into the resort: 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Manila Marriott Hotel, the tower beside Newport Mall: 5 to 10 minutes.
  • Hotel Okura Manila, 150 m from the mall by the second-floor bridge: about 10 minutes.
  • Hilton Manila, at the Newport Boulevard end by the resort’s covered bridgeway: about 10 minutes.
  • Holiday Inn Express Manila Newport City, at the Jasmine Drive end: about 10 minutes on foot, or the hotel’s own free shuttle van to and from the bridge on a daytime timetable.

Add 30 to 60 minutes before any of these for immigration, bags and customs on an international arrival, and on departure build the walk backwards from your airline’s check-in cut-off, not from the hotel breakfast.

The one thing to check first

Runway Manila serves Terminal 3 only. Terminals 1 and 2 are on the opposite side of the runways, 15 to 25 minutes away by road, and Terminal 4 is closed; from those terminals a Newport hotel is a drive, not a walk, and the bridge only becomes useful once you have reached Terminal 3 by the free inter-terminal shuttle or a Grab. Airlines also move: in the March and April 2026 reshuffle AirAsia’s international flights left Terminal 3 for Terminal 1 while Japan Airlines, Air China, China Eastern and Vietnam Airlines came the other way, so check your airline against our terminals guide before booking a hotel on the strength of the bridge. Cebu Pacific is at Terminal 3, but Philippine Airlines domestic flights use Terminal 2 and PAL international flights Terminal 1, which is the single most common surprise for Filipino travellers staying at Newport.

Using the bridge on a layover

If you have five hours or more between flights at Terminal 3 and the right to enter the Philippines, the bridge is the easiest layover escape at any airport in the region: a meal at Newport Mall, a film, a swim at a hotel pool if you book a room, or a nap. Keep the whole plan inside Newport, leave the mall at least three hours before an international departure, and do not plan to be back across the bridge at the last minute; see our Manila layover guide and the day rooms guide for the hotels that work for a few hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Runway Manila open 24 hours?

Yes. The bridge is open around the clock and free, and Newport World Resorts runs a 24-hour shuttle at its Newport end for Terminal 3 passengers. Shops in Newport Mall keep their own hours, so after midnight the walk is quiet but the route is lit, air-conditioned and staffed by security.

How long is the walk from Terminal 3 to the hotels?

The bridge itself is 220 metres with moving walkways, about three minutes. From the arrivals hall to a hotel lobby allow 5 minutes for the Savoy, Belmont, Sheraton and Marriott and about 10 minutes for the Okura, Hilton and Holiday Inn Express, longer with checked bags or children.

Can I take an airport luggage trolley across?

Trolleys are provided at the bridge and golf carts can be requested free of charge for passengers who need them; airport trolleys from the arrivals hall are not meant to leave the terminal. There are lifts and escalators at both ends, so the route is step-free.

Does Runway Manila connect to Terminals 1 and 2?

No. It links Terminal 3 only. From Terminals 1 and 2, on the other side of the runways, take the free inter-terminal shuttle or a Grab to Terminal 3 first (15 to 25 minutes), then walk.
